星海园

    星海园位于麓湖西岸，占地约1.5万平方米。

    为纪念伟大的人民音乐家冼星海，由广东省音乐家协会和广州市人民政府筹集资金合建，1985年12月1日建成并举行冼星海骨灰迁葬仪式，星海园属革命纪念建筑物，广州市重点文物保护单位，并定为广州市青少年爱国主义教育基地之一。

    园内有纪念碑、墓道、塑像、纪念馆、纪念廊等设施，70米长的墓道和宽阔的平台气象轩昂；褐红色的大理石基座上安放着冼星海半身塑像庄严肃穆；基座底安放有冼星海同志的部分骨灰；葱翠的绿篱环绕全园，使星海园显得宁谧、庄重。园内还设有300平方米的陈列室，展出了冼星海同志的生平业绩。

    为配合广大青少年来园活动，园外广场新辟1000平方米青少年活动场地，设有羽毛球场、地掷球场和户外健身器材等设施，使青少年在接受教育之余，又可进行有益身心的活动。

    星海园集爱国主义教育与娱乐活动为一体，是儿童、青少年活动的好场所。

A Brief Note on Xing Hai Yuan

    Located along the west shore of Luhu,Xing Hai Yuan.covers an area of approximately 6,000 square meters.It was built to commemorate Xian Xing Hai one of the greatest musicians of our time,with funds jointly raised by the Association of Musicians of Guang Dong province and Guangzhou City Authority.Completed on December 1,1985,Xing Hai Yuan was graced with Xian’s ashes,formally moved in to be placcd there in a ceremony held on the same day.

    Apart from being viewed as a significant memorial for the revolution and a major historic monument under the city government’s conservation program,Xing Hai Yuan has also been designated as one of the bases for fostering among our youth a sense of patriotism.There are memorial stones,walkways,statues,memorial halls,galleries and so on in the park.The spacious platform and walkways stretching as long as 70 meters convey a magnificent and yet solemn aura.Adding to the solemn atmosphere is a statue of comrade Xian Xing Hai sitting on a reddish brown marble pedestal,in which part of his ashes was settled,while the green fence circling the whole park exudes a semblance of serenity.To let people learn more about comrade Xian,a 300 square meter hall is dedicated to exhibiting his biographical stories and career.

     In order to allow for more visits by young people,a lot of 1,000 square meters is allotted for the construction of such facilities as badminton courts,slides,a boxing ring,a loach pond,a sand box,a playhouse and so on All these are meant to provide young visitors with fun and wholesome activities while they receive education.

     With its dual functions,an education center of patriotism and a venue for entertainment,all in one,Xing Hai Yuan is a great place for children as well as young adbults to come and have fun.
